Lethbridge Police seek witnesses after charging 50-year-old man with sexual assault

A 50-year-old man faces sexual assault charges in connection with an alleged incident in Lethbridge late last month, and police are looking for witnesses.

The Lethbridge Police Service said on April 22, a report was made, alleging that a 15-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted after midnight on April 19 at a party on the south side of the city. Police said the investigation found that the 50-year-old suspect had taken the teen into a bathroom “under the pretense of examining a sunburn” she had gotten earlier that day. While inside, police said the man touched the girl inappropriately.

The 50-year-old man is charged with sexual interference and sexual assault of a person under 16. He was released from custody and is set to be in court on June 19.

Police said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the alleged incident is asked to contact the LPS at 403-328-4444 and reference file 26007507. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers online or by calling 1-800-222-8477.
