Severe thunderstorms in the forecast this afternoon, evening

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, which may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rain.

According to Environment Canada, there’s also a slight chance of a tornado.

Be prepared for severe weather. If threatening weather approaches, take cover in a basement or interior room.

If outside, protect yourself from flying debris and hail. When thunder roars, go indoors!

Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Strong wind gusts can damage trees, buildings, and overturn vehicles.

Large hail can cause significant damage and injury.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
