Rainfall warning in effect for Lethbridge

Lethbridge residents can expect the wet conditions seen on Sunday to continue Monday.

Environment Canada has issued a yellow warning for rainfall for the city and surrounding communities, with 50 to 100 millimetres anticipated in Lethbridge. Officials note the rain should slowly diminish on Monday night, and end by Tuesday morning.

The agency said water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas, and landslides could occur in vulnerable areas like steep slopes, deforested areas, or recent burn scars.

Officials advise motorists to avoid driving through flooded roadways and ask residents to watch out for washouts near rivers, creeks, and culverts.

For Canada Day Wednesday, improved conditions are expected for community festivities, with sunshine and a daytime high of 23 degrees Celsius in the forecast.

Weather advisories for areas across the province are available on the Environment Canada website.
