Dozens of tickets were issued during a vehicle equipment enforcement initiative conducted by the Taber Police Service and Alberta Sheriffs.
The July 27 operation aimed to improve road safety and ensure vehicles complied with provincial standards.
Police said officers issued 35 tickets for illegal window tint, two for inadequate mudguards, two for inadequate fender flares, two for seatbelt violations, five for failing to produce required documents and one for an expired vehicle registration. They also issued one ticket each for having alcohol within easy reach of the driver, a covered licence plate, a loud exhaust, possession of two driver’s licences and possession of non-tax-paid tobacco.
Police said four drivers removed illegal window tint from their vehicles at the roadside.
Police also said officers dealt with one impaired driving incident after a driver provided breath samples that resulted in a FAIL. The driver received Immediate Roadside Sanctions, including an immediate 90-day driver’s licence suspension, a 30-day vehicle seizure and a $1,200 administrative penalty.
Police encouraged drivers to check that their vehicles meet the requirements of Alberta’s Traffic Safety Act and related regulations before travelling.
