A construction project is set to start in Lethbridge County next week.

On Monday, Aug. 10, maintenance work will start on the Kipp Bridge over the CPKC rail track, northwest of Coalhurst. Officials said the bridge requires maintenance work to extend its lifecycle.

Repairs will include repairing the bridge’s expansion joints, deck sealing, repairing/replacing deck joints, straightening structural members, and painting.

Officials said the road will stay open during the construction project but will be reduced to a single lane. Flag persons will be on-site to manage traffic flow, and short duration stops might be needed. The County noted that lanes will be opened at night.

The project is expected to be completed by mid to end of September, weather permitting.

More on road closures is available on the Lethbridge County website.
