Over $100K raised for Interfaith Food Bank at annual charity dinner

The Interfaith Food Bank celebrated its supporters over the weekend.

On Sept. 18, the food bank held its 18th annual Friends of Interfaith Charity Dinner and Silent Auction at the Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge.

The event saw donations come through to the food bank, including a contribution of almost $17,000 from guests through the Giving Tree initiative. That was matched by Friends of Interfaith for almost a total of $37,000 from donations alone.

The evening featured a dinner by Prime Catering, as well as a silent auction with items donated by local businesses and individuals, a raffle and ‘wine pull’, which all helped raise funds for the local food bank.

From the event, over $127,000 was generated and after expenses, the food bank raised just over $105,000 in total. That will support emergency food assistance programs, Interfaith’s community kitchen and other support initiatives.

Food scarcity continues to be an issue across the whole country, with Interfaith noting it has been serving well over 3,000 individuals in Lethbridge and the surrounding area.

More information is available on the Interfaith Food Bank website.
