Repeat speeding stops raises concerns on Taber-area roads

Taber police have reported several excessive-speeding incidents in the Municipal District of Taber over the past three weeks.

Community Standards officers stopped drivers travelling well above posted limits, including two vehicles recorded at 154 and 140 km/h in 100 km/h zones, according to police.

Another vehicle was clocked at 121 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

On Oct. 6, officers stopped a white GMC Yukon travelling 119 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Township Road 100 near Range Road 182. Police said it was the second time the same vehicle had been stopped for excessive speeding in the area.

The incidents underscore the importance of following posted speed limits, particularly on rural roads where driving conditions can vary.

The Taber Police Service is urging motorists to drive at appropriate speeds and account for road and weather conditions.

Police said excessive speed puts everyone on the road at risk and urged drivers to slow down and reach their destinations safely.
