Lethbridge Hurricanes gearing up for annual Toque and Teddy Toss game

With just over a month to go, the Lethbridge Hurricanes have announced that tickets to the 30th annual Canadian Tire Toque and Teddy Toss game are now available.

Those hoping to attend the game can purchase tickets at each Canadian Tire location in the city, with the matchup set for 6:00 p.m. on Dec. 5. That Saturday, the ‘Canes will welcome the Moose Jaw Warriors to the VisitLethbridge.com Arena.

Fans can get a free ticket for the game with the purchase of a minimum $18 bear or toque at the Canadian Tire locations in Lethbridge, while supplies last.

During the game, toques and teddies will be tossed onto the ice once the Hurricanes score their first goal, with those items then donated to local charities and groups in the region, including the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation, Lethbridge Family Services Angel Tree, Blood Tribe Police and Emergency Services, RCMP Victim Services, and many more.

The Hurricanes’ first-ever Teddy Bear Toss was held in 1995 and 19 years ago; the initiative set a record. The 2007 event saw 5,202 fans throw 21,905 bears on the ice.

In 2025, 3,651 bears and 945 toques were collected for the cause.

This season, the hockey club has a goal of collecting 6,000 bears and 1,500 toques.

Fans are encouraged to bring stuffed animals and toques individually wrapped in a clear plastic bag for health and sanitary reasons.

The Hurricanes’ full 2026-27 schedule is available on the team’s website.
