Redcliff woman wins $1 million in Lotto 6/49 draw

A southern Alberta woman is $1 million richer after she won big on the Lotto 6/49.

Erin Taefu from Redcliff says she held on to the winning ticket for nearly two months. She says she was cleaning out her car when she found a few unchecked tickets.

She was shocked to discover that her ticket for the October 16th Lotto 6/49 draw, won the $1 million guaranteed prize.

“I was in complete shock. I just could not believe it,” she said. “I kept checking the ticket on the mobile app to be sure!”

Taefu hopes to buy a bigger home with the cash and she also plans to invest some of it for the future.

I started my radio career in 2015, shortly after graduating from Lethbridge College. I have a very strong passion for local news. Proudly born in 1994, I grew up most of my life in Sylvan Lake, AB and I've lived in the Lethbridge since 2012. I'm a below average golfer on a good day, I take as many hiking trips to Waterton as possible in the summer and I love my two cats, Outlaw and Jynx, and my dog, Maverick, more than most people I know. I look forward to providing accurate, timely news coverage in southern Alberta for plenty of years to come!
