Fire crews contain blaze south of Lethbridge

Fire crews from three municipalities responded to a structure fire south of Lethbridge Friday afternoon.

According to Lethbridge County officials, crews were dispatched to a property along Township Road 8-1A south of the city at 1:01 p.m. Nov. 6.

County officials said strong winds increased the risk of the fire spreading, but firefighters from Coaldale, Picture Butte and Lethbridge contained the fire to part of a building on the property.

Paramedics assessed one person at the scene and released them. Officials did not provide further details about the person’s condition.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Officials urged the public to stay away from the area while emergency crews continued their work.
