STANDOFF, AB – The Blood Tribe is cracking down with tougher COVID-19 restrictions.
Chief and Council and health officials on the reserve say these measures are necessary to curb the spread of the virus.
The Blood Tribe says there has been an alarming increase in the number of people on the reserve who are testing positive right now for coronavirus.
In fact, Chief Roy Fox and the entire Blood Tribe Council is in isolation right now and undergoing immediate testing.
Fox urges Blood Tribe members to increase their vigilance and follow these important restrictions.
Some of those include the cancelling of all community gatherings on the reserve, and that means at-home get-togethers too, no funeral wakes allowed at private homes, no visiting other households, and anyone on the reserve ordered to be in quarantine must stay at home or face fines.
Chief Fox is also strongly recommending all Blood Tribe members who’ve attended a social gathering or funeral or wake over the past 10 days to get tested for COVID-19.
