Parole board grants Lethbridge woman who killed mother full parole

A Lethbridge woman who admitted to stabbing her mother to death three years ago has been granted full parole.

31 year old Jessica Praill was charged with second degree murder in the April 2016 death of her mother Shelly Praill, though she later pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter and was sentenced to eight years in prison.

In documents supplied to My Lethbridge Now.com from the National Parole Board, Jessica Praill was granted day parole back in September 2018 and full parole late last month.

Praill’s release comes with a number of conditions: she follow a treatment plan for mental illness, continue to take prescribed medication, and abstain from alcohol.

Court heard Praill had a strained relationship with her mother and was the victim of emotional and physical abuse as a child.
