Southland Transportation officially takes over Lethbridge school busing

LETHBRIDGE, AB – As of Monday, March 15th all school bus services for Lethbridge’s two districts will be fully transitioned from the City to Southland Transportation.

Plans for the changeover began in September 2020 with the first routes transitioning just a couple of months later in November.

Now, all the routes have been taken over by Southland.

Southland operates school, charter, commuter and specialized transportation buses in Alberta, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Saskatchewan.

The new school bus provider also offers two ways to track the location of each bus and search for route delays through the MyBusStop app or the My School Bus Monitor website.

Representatives from both school divisions, the City of Lethbridge, and Southland all met Thursday (Mar. 11) to formally complete the transition.

The changeover was made after Lethbridge City Council decided a while ago it would no longer be providing school bus transportation.
