Police investigating several suspicious grass, fence, recycling bin fires

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Another fire from early Friday morning (July 16) is now being investigated by the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS), in addition to several other blazes within the last 24 hours.

At about 4:00 a.m. on Friday (July 16), a grass fire ignited in the coulee between Scenic Dr and 7 Ave S. Fire crews managed to put it out before it could spread any further.

Another grass fire was lit east of 43 St near 20 Ave S just before 11:30 a.m. Thursday morning (July 15). Several other fires nearby are believed to have started within a short time after that.

A number of other grass, fence and recycling bin fires are also under investigation.

If you have any information or security camera footage that could help, you’re asked contact the LPS right away.

I started my radio career in 2015, shortly after graduating from Lethbridge College. I have a very strong passion for local news. Proudly born in 1994, I grew up most of my life in Sylvan Lake, AB and I've lived in the Lethbridge since 2012. I'm a below average golfer on a good day, I take as many hiking trips to Waterton as possible in the summer and I love my two cats, Outlaw and Jynx, and my dog, Maverick, more than most people I know. I look forward to providing accurate, timely news coverage in southern Alberta for plenty of years to come!
