LETHBRIDGE, AB – A unique project in Lethbridge aims to offer safe and stable housing units for Blackfoot women and their children who are relocating from nearby reserves.
Residents of the 14 units may be starting new jobs or attending school, or fleeing difficult circumstances on the Kainai, Piikani or Siksika First Nations.
Chair of the Blackfoot Family Lodge Society, Lance Tailfeathers, says it’s an outcome of true collaboration between Indigenous organizations and government agencies to recognize the needs of community members.
Dignitaries were on hand Wednesday (July 21) to announce $3.4-million in joint funding from the provincial and federal governments.
