Lethbridge man charged with assaulting a police officer with a weapon

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A Lethbridge man remains in custody, facing some serious charges, after his arrest last Thursday.

30 year old Lance Chalifoux had outstanding warrants for assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily hard and failure to comply with probation.

Lethbridge Police deemed he was a risk to the public and issued a social media plea for help in locating him.

Officers tracked him down along Stafford Drive and 6th ave south but he tried to run and in doing so, allegedly shot at police with an air soft replica handgun.

One officer suffered minor injuries in the incident while two others were reportedly assaulted during the arrest.

Chalifoux has been charged with 20 criminal code offences including assaulting a police officer with a weapon.

He remains in jail.
