Hyggen to host the first Mayor’s Community Barbecue

The City of Lethbridge is celebrating the return of Whoop-Up Days with the first ever Mayor’s Community Barbecue.

Taking place right after the parade on August 23 from 11:30am-1:30pm, the barbecue will have free burgers, hot dogs, chips, pop, and face painting for the first 750 people.

“We’ve had a rather quiet last few years when it comes to Whoop-Up Days, haven’t had a parade in two years,” says Mayor Blaine Hyggen. “We haven’t had the chance to just get together as a community and so, a positive side to that, I hope this is one of many to come in the future.”

Lethbridge born artist Trevor Panczak will be performing on the steps of City Hall during the barbecue and champion chuckwagon driver Kris Molle will be making an appearance, fresh off his win at the Calgary Stampede’s Dash for Cash last month.

Residents will also have access to the latest information regarding the coming 2023-2026 Operating Budget engagement plans. Lethbridge City Council will also be recruiting for their Boards, Commissions and Committees.

4 Ave between Stafford Drive and 10 Street South will be temporarily closed for the event, beginning the morning of August 23.
