Lethbridge’s new Community Peace Officers sworn in at police station

The Lethbridge Police Service’s new Community Peace Officers have been sworn in and are ready to hit the streets for field training.

A ceremony for the first group of nine was held Wednesday morning at the police station.

New CPO Gerrilee Boon says she’s learned a lot and is ready to get started, saying her goal is to become a police officer and feels the CPO program will give her great experience and knowledge for when she’s ready to move up into that position.

Lethbridge is the first community in Alberta to implement Community Peace Officers as a division of the police service.
