Wood’s Homes online auction supports struggling youth

Lethbridge residents can help struggling youth in the city by participating in an annual online auction. More than 100 items donated by local businesses and individuals will be sold as part of Wood’s Homes third annual online auction on Dec. 8-15. Money raised will support the organization’s emergency youth shelter — which provides kids under 18 with basic necessities including a warm bed, a hot meal, showers, laundry facilities, and crisis counselling.

“During the last few years, our organization has witnessed a significant increase in demand for crisis counselling,” reads a news release from Wood’s Home. “Many young people and their families are experiencing layers of mental health challenges due to family conflict, financial stresses, social isolation and lack of family and natural supports. Wood’s Homes has developed innovative ways to continue to deliver our essential services while maintaining safety for staff and clients.”

Items in the auction will include art, experiences, home and family items, services and food and entertainment. Two unique pieces of art created by past clients of Wood’s Homes services will also be featured.
