Update: Police, divers investigate at Henderson Lake after reported assault

Update: Police say the dive team recovered a pellet gun from Henderson Lake and the assault investigation is still ongoing. Charges are pending and the man remains in custody.

Lethbridge Police are in scene at Henderson Lake Park as members of the Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services dive team attempt to retrieve items that were thrown in the lake. Police say there is no risk to the public.

“Earlier this morning police responded to a report of an assault outside a business along the 600 block of Mayor Magrath Drive South. A male subject fled the scene and subsequently ran into Henderson Lake where he proceeded to dispose of items in his possession,” reads a news release from LPS. “The subject was taken into custody and members of the fire department dive team have been called out to assist in locating the items in the water.”

Access to the lake is restricted only in the area of the investigation.
