Police advise of possible cougar sighting near mountain view cemetary

Lethbridge police are advising the public of an unconfirmed cougar sighting near Mountain View Cemetery.

Officers responded to reports of the sighting on the north side of the cemetery near the flame of hope around 1:30 a.m. on June 27.

“Police attended the area but were unable to locate the cougar. Fish and Wildlife were subsequently notified,” reads a news release from the Lethbridge Police Service. “While the sighting is unconfirmed, given the proximity to residences and the dog run, police are advising the public to be aware of the possibility of a cougar in the area.”

Anyone who sees a cougar, is advised to call the Public Safety Communications Centre at 403-328-4444 or in an emergency, 911.
