Coaldale resident charged after firearms complaint

A Coaldale resident has been charged after accidentally discharging a weapon and shooting himself in the foot.

Around 11:49 a.m. on Jan. 7, Coaldale RCMP were alerted to the report of shots fired at a residence. When officers arrived, an investigation revealed that a man was walking around the residence with a shotgun and there had been an accidental discharge which resulted in the man being shot in the foot.

EMS attended and the man was taken for medical attention.

Scott Eugene Conine, 41, has been charged with breach of conditions, unauthorized possession of a firearm, three counts of careless use of a firearm, and six counts of possessing a firearm contrary to order.

Conine was remanded into custody and will appear in Lethbridge court on Jan. 10.
