Woman facing trafficking charges after drugs found in Brocket residence

A 24-year-old female has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking after a drug investigation on Piikani Nation.

On Dec. 26, Piikani Nation RCMP began a drug investigation in relation to the trafficking of illicit substances on the Nation after receiving numerous tips through Crime Stoppers.

On Jan.8, officers executed a search warrant in the Townsite of Brocket, as a result half an ounce of suspected crack cocaine, multiple unconfirmed prescription medications and drug paraphernalia were seized.

A 24-year-old female has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance. She was released and is scheduled to appear in Pincher Creek court on March 7.

Piikani Nation declared a state of emergency over the opioid crisis recently and RCMP are dedicated to doing whatever it means to get illegal drugs off the Nation. RCMP are encouraging the public to report crime, if residents wish to remain anonymous they can use Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
