UPDATE: Bus cancellations and school closures in Lethbridge

Continued cold weather has resulted in Southland Transportation Ltd. cancelling buses on Monday, January 15th in Lethbridge.

Even though busses will not be running on Monday, Lethbridge School Division and Holy Spirit Catholic School Division schools will remain open on Monday. Both divisions are urging parents and guardians who plan to send their students to school to take extra precautions. With forecasted temperatures expected to reach -40 degrees Celsius, division administration says they understand if caregivers decide to keep students home.

Guardians are being advised information regarding bus service for Tuesday, January 16th will be updated as soon as it is available.

As well the catholic school division is advising families both St. Patrick Elementary School and St. Mary’s School in Taber will be closed Monday; along with Father Leonard Van Tighem School which is closed because of a “flooding incident” which happened on Friday, January 12.

Chinook High School will also be closed on Monday. According to the Lethbridge School Division the closure is due to a “significant water leak.”
