Hurricanes season ends in series sweep

The Lethbridge Hurricanes season came to an end Wednesday night after a double-overtime loss to the Swift Current Broncos.

The Canes came home to the ENMAX Centre earlier this week down two games in the first-round series. Game three on Tuesday, April 2 ended with the Lethbridge team losing 5-3 to the Broncos. Lethbridge took the lead in game four of the best-of-seven series scoring their first goal 1:27 into the game, and finished the first 20 minutes with a 3-1 lead.

By the end of the third period, the Saskatchewan team had tied things up, making it a 4-4 game and forcing overtime. In the first overtime, neither team capitalized on their chances, forcing an additional 20-minute sudden death period. The Broncos won with the first and only shot of the second overtime period.

Hurricanes overage players Joe Arntsen, Sean Tschigerl and Dylan Sydor received the three stars of the game.
