Charges pending in connection to significant drug seizure in Taber

A 39-year-old woman is facing multiple charges after Taber Police seized a significant amount of drugs and cash connected to an investigation opened at the end of March.

According to police on March 30th officers received a report of a large quantity of drugs and cash located in a Taber residence and opened the investigation where they identified the suspect. On April 4th officers are reported to have pulled the woman over for a traffic stop, where the woman and the two men that were in her car were arrested. In the subsequent search of the vehicle police reportedly seized drugs, cash, digital scales with drug residue, and other items that are said to be connected to drug trafficking.

In a release, police say that 496 grams of meth, 316 grams of coke, and $17,905 in cash were seized. The amount of meth seized is reported to be enough for half the population of Taber, with enough for 4500 doses.

Chantal Catherine Bareman is facing multiple charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and a pair of Possession of the Proceeds of Crime charges. She has since been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Taber court on May 7th. Additional charges are reportedly pending.
