Applications are now open for the Community Wellbeing Advisory Board. The board supports the City of Lethbridge by promoting community wellbeing in alignment with the Municipal Development Plan and the recently refreshed and approved Community Wellbeing and Safety Strategy. The primary role of the Board is to provide recommendations on how federal and provincial government funding is allocated within the community. The board will also provide advice to the City on matters relating to the wellbeing of the community.
Cyndi Bester, chief executive officer of the Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce and current serving advisory board member, says community volunteerism is an accessible and powerful way to support your friends and neighbours.
“Serving the community in a way that directly impacts the kinds of wellbeing-focused resources and programs we have available in Lethbridge is an incredible opportunity,” adds Bester. “There is no better way to connect and contribute to your community than by volunteering your time and energy. It’s a rewarding experience and one that really brings equal benefit to both the volunteer and to your fellow residents.”
There are nine voting positions open on the Board and a diverse range of voices are being sought to represent the changing needs of the community. Indigenous perspectives are essential to this work and the Board has dedicated positions for Indigenous members.
A virtual information session will be held June 24 at 6 p.m. for any interested applicants. The online application form and additional information can be found at lethbridge.ca/csd. Applications close July 11.
