A 32-year-old woman is facing impaired driving charges after a collision that caused significant damage to two Town of Taber vehicles.
According to the Taber Police Service, just before 10:20 p.m. on Monday, June 10th police along with members of Taber Emergency Services responded to a motor collision on 50th Avenue and 47th Street. Police say that town employees were doing line painting near this area and had a work truck with its hazard lights on when an eastbound SUV collided with the paint machine and a Town of Taber vehicle.
According to a statement from police “Due to the severity of the collision, a criminal impaired driving investigation commenced.” The driver of the SUV allegedly failed her roadside test resulting in her arrest. Following further testing at the police station, she was determined to allegedly have twice the legal amount of alcohol in her system.
The driver is facing charges for driving impaired and was also issued an Immediate Roadside Sanctions which carries a 90-day licence suspension, a 30-day vehicle seizure and a $1,200 fine.
Those working in the area were said to have gotten out of the way during the crash.
