UPDATE: The severe thunderstorm watch is no longer in effect for the areas listed below.
Many areas across southern Alberta are under a severe thunderstorm watch.
Environment and Climate Change Canada has put the watch in effect for much of the area around Lethbridge, saying conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms, which could produce strong wind gusts and large hail.
The full list of areas under the advisory includes:
– M.D. of Willow Creek near Limit Fort Macleod, Granum and Peigan Timber
– Blood Res. 148 including Stand Off
– Cardston Co. near Magrath and Woolford Provincial Park
– County of Lethbridge near Coalhurst Nobleford, Barons, Picture Butte, Turin, and Coaldale.
– The City of Lethbridge
– M.D. of Taber near Vauxhall, Hays, Taber, Barnwell, Grassy Lake and Highway 877 and Highway 513
– County of Warner near Raymond Stirling, New Dayton, and Wrentham
