LPS investigating early morning break in, assault

Police are asking anyone with video surveillance or dash cam footage in the 200 block of Mayor Magrath Drive North to check their footage as it could help with their investigation of a home invasion and attack in the area.

According to Lethbridge Police Service officials around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday police were called to a report that a man had broken into a home in the area and attacked the woman who was asleep inside the home.

According to police officials, “The male assaulted the victim with a weapon, then fled through a window. The victim was transported by EMS to Chinook Regional Hospital and admitted with serious injuries.”

Several officers along with a K9 attended the scene to locate the suspect, without success. Officers believe the suspect and victim are unknown to each other and the “incident appears to be random in nature.”

Police are asking any homeowners in the area or those who may have been driving in the area between midnight and 4 a.m. on September 10th to check their video footage for any activity. As well, anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
