Attempted murder charge laid after alleged home invasion assault

Lethbridge Police have charged a 28-year-old male with attempted murder in connection with an incident where a woman was attacked in her home.

On September 10th, authorities say they responded to a report that a man had broken into a home along the 200 block of Mayor Magrath Drive North and attacked a 27-year-old woman who was asleep inside the residence.

The man allegedly assaulted the victim with a weapon before fleeing through a window. The victim was transported by EMS to Chinook Regional Hospital and admitted with serious injuries.

Despite multiple officers and a K9 unit responding, the suspect was not found. However, a day later, with help from the Violent Crimes Unit, the suspect was arrested without incident.

28-year-old Corbin John Maxwell of Coaldale is facing charges of attempted murder and housebreaking with intent.
