Two teenagers have been charged with arson in connection to a fire at a business in south Lethbridge earlier this month. Lethbridge Police says they were called to the 1500 block of 2 Avenue South after a reports of a building on fire. Firefighters managed to knock the blaze down, but not before it had caused in excess of $500,000 in damage.
Authorities say multiple tips, as well as video surveillance of the fire was obtained, and the two suspects were identified and arrested without incident at the police station.
The two 16-year-olds, who cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, are each charged with one count of arson to property, and disregard for human life.
A third subject was determined to be a witness in the matter and is not facing charges.
