Southern Alberta man arrested at US border

A southern Alberta man is facing drug and firearms offences after an incident at the American border.

Cardston RCMP say they responded on Wednesday to a report of a man trying to enter the United States while in possession of a loaded, prohibited pistol and a loaded shotgun.

Mounties say the man was also in possession of pills suspected to be opioids.

38 year old Manish Sihota of Foothills County has been charged with offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act as well as numerous firearms offences including allegations of breaching a lifetime firearms prohibition.

Sihota is scheduled for a bail hearing on Monday in Cardston Provincial Court.
