The Interfaith Food Bank Society of Lethbridge has received national recognition.
For the second straight year, Interfaith has been named to the Top 100 Charities List by Charity Intelligence. This comes on the heels of being named a Top 10 Impact Food Bank for the last three years. Officials note there are over 4,750 hunger relief organizations across Canada, with several food banks recognized as Top Charities this year.
“It is an absolute honor to have our work recognized this way,” says Interfaith’s executive director Danielle McIntyre. “It speaks to the impact to the families we serve, and the return on investment to donors looking to ensure their donations are truly making a difference. We are particularly proud of this achievement as it was not a contest we applied for or competed in, but an independent assessment of our work as a charitable organization.”
“It is also exciting to see several food banks on this list, recognizing that not only is Food Security a huge issue right now, but that food banks are legitimate and reputable organizations deserving of community support,” McIntyre adds.
Charity Intelligence analyzes a charity’s results, impact and costs to help Canadians make a well-researched choice on the group they donate to. Charity Intelligence is preparing its list of Top Impact Charities, which will be released in November.

Additionally, Interfaith Food Bank is recognized as a five-star charity by Charity Intelligence, with a High Impact Score. This means the local society is “financially transparent, has reasonable overhead costs and an above average results reporting grade.” Charity Intelligence adds that for every dollar donated to Interfaith, “84 cents are available to go to the cause”.
