UPDATE: The snowfall warning has been lifted.
Grab the winter gear and get set for a snowy weekend. Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Lethbridge and surrounding areas.
In Lethbridge, the agency is calling for about 20 to 35 centimetres of the white stuff between Friday, November 22 and Sunday, November 24.
The snow is anticipated to fall Friday morning in southern Alberta, then spread northward throughout the day. The agency says snowfall intensity will vary through the day and overnight, with general amounts of five to 10 centimetres forecast by Saturday morning.
The snowfall will ramp up early Saturday, with an additional 10 to 25 centimetres anticipated by the evening.
Officials say the snow will ease and gradually end overnight into Sunday morning.
Visibility on local roads and highways may be impacted so motorists are asked to drive with caution and watch for others.
Environment Canada suggests postponing non-essential travel.
The full list of regions impacted by the snowfall warning is available at the Environment and Climate Change Canada website.
