The Lethbridge Hurricanes have named the latest group that will be inducted the Western Hockey League team’s Wall of Honour.
Corey Lyons, Ben Wright and Herb Beswick will be celebrated on Friday, February 7, 2025 when the Hurricanes host the Prince Albert Raiders at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena.
COREY LYONS
The 54-year-old Corey Lyons from Calgary will be inducted into the Players Category. He spent parts of three seasons with the Lethbridge team from 1988 until 1990. Lyons was the Hurricanes Co-Rookie of the Year in 1988-1989 and he was drafted 63rd overall, in the third round, of the 1989 National Hockey League Entry Draft by the Calgary Flames. He went on to play 11 professional seasons in various leagues, including the IHL, ECHL, WCHL and in Europe before retiring from playing in 2004.

He went on to attend the University of New Brunswick for parts of four seasons. During his stint with the Varisity Reds, he played in 72 regular season games, totalling 31 points (five goals, 26 assists), along with 141 penalty minutes. He helped lead the team to the 2013 University Cup National Championship.
HERB BESWICK
Herb Beswick is set to be inducted into the Builders Category. This will be his second time inducted by the club. Beswick was one of the 15 members of the team’s 1986 Board of Directors that was inducted into the Wall of Honour in 2006.
The team says as part of his role on that Board, he was instrumental in helping with the acquisition of the franchise from Calgary.
The Lethbridge junior team played from 1974 to 1986 as the Lethbridge Broncos. Originally the Swift Current Broncos, the club returned to Saskatchewan in 1986. The WHL and City of Lethbridge did not want Lethbridge to be without a team, so one year later, the Calgary Wranglers were relocated to Lethbridge and became the Hurricanes.
Along with his firm Davidson & Williams LLP, Beswick serves as the Hurricanes General Counsel to the Board of Directors. He is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association and the Lethbridge Bar Association, with whom he served as a previous president. Beswick will become the seventh Builders Category induction and the fifth individual inducted in that category.
