$12K raised for Special Olympics Alberta at Cops, Pops and Pizza event

This year’s Cops, Pops and Pizza event over $12,300 was raised in support of Special Olympics Alberta.

The annual event held by the Lethbridge Police Service and Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics was held Friday before the Lethbridge Hurricanes Teddy Bear and Toque toss game at the Boston Pizza Lethbridge South. Between funds raised from merchandise sales, cash donations and a check for $5,815.70 from the local restaurant, over $12,339.40 was raised which will be put towards Alberta Special Olympics and local community programs.

At this year’s event members of the LPS, including officers from the K9 Unit and Tactical Team were in attendance, along with members of the Alberta Sheriffs, RCMP, Coaldale and District Municipal Enforcement and peace officers from surrounding rural communities. As well there were police vehicles on display for those in attendance to see. This year the event also saw the launch of a new stuffed pup that could be thrown at the following Hurricane’s game.
