Unofficial results: Miyashiro takes byelection as NDP retains Lethbridge-West

After unofficially getting the nod in Wednesday night’s Lethbridge-West byelection, Rob Miyashiro will soon be heading to the legislature.

Of the 13,561 valid votes counted, Miyashiro received 7,239 votes, UCP candidate and current Lethbridge city councillor John Middleton-Hope received 6,089 votes, and Alberta Party candidate Layton Veverka received 223 votes.

The unofficial result means the seat stays under the NDP banner after former three-time MLA Shannon Phillips vacated it in July 2024.
