Precaution should still be taken when having outdoor fires:
- Make sure to use clean, dry wood;
- Ensure your fire is completely extinguished before you leave.
You’re also reminded to be extra cautious when disposing of smoking materials.
Remember, conditions can change quickly, and park visitors must exercise caution when having fires.
“The fire risk this season is unusually high,” says Chief Fire Marshal Troy Hicks. “One small spark is all it takes to cause a wildfire. We’re asking everyone to help us prevent that by following the rules and checking fire bans before having a fire in the River Valley. It’s a shared responsibility.”
