Bike thieves beware: Lethbridge Police offer crime prevention tips

With more bikes out and about this summer, so are bike thieves.

Lethbridge Police Service would like to remind cyclists to ride safe this summer with the following crime prevention tips.

  • Invest in a high-quality U-lock, “as they’re tougher to break.”
  • Always lock your bike in well-lit, busy areas.
  • At home, lock your ride in a shed or garage, if possible.
  • Never leave bikes unlocked outside of businesses, on patios or in front or back yards.
  • Register your bike at bikeindex.org. “It’s free and helps police return stolen bikes to their owners faster.”
  • Snap a picture of your bike and serial number for your records too.

LPS says stay safe, lock smart and ride on.
