After a damp weekend in southern Alberta, the City of Lethbridge has lifted a River Valley fire ban, while Lethbridge County has lifted its fire ban, as well.
The fire risk in the River Valley area of Lethbridge has been reduced because of higher humidity levels.
If you’re planning on partaking in an outdoor fire down by the river, make sure to use clean, dry wood and make sure to extinguish the fire completely before heading home.
The City also reminds outdoor fire enthusiasts to use extreme caution when disposing of any smoking materials.
In the County, fire permits can once again be applied for online.
According to the County, untreated wood and yard waste, including weeds, branches and leaves can legally be burned.
Remember to also apply for a burn permit before any open burning within the County.
The County reminds residents to be prepared for emergencies by downloading the Alberta Emergency Alert app, keeping vehicles fuelled up in case of an evacuation and add one item to your emergency kit each time you go shopping.
