Salaries at the City of Lethbridge will not be going up in the New Year.
Council and administrative salaries are commonly adjusted each year for cost of living purposes but for 2020 there will be no increases.
The decision comes in consideration of the economic environment both provincially and locally.
Deputy Mayor Belinda Crowson says City Council is committed to accountable leadership and financial stewardship in our strategic plan, adding this is one more way council members can be accountable to the citizens they serve.
The motion to suspend the cost of living pay increase was unanimously approved at council’s regular meeting Monday.
