$100,000 in damage, no injuries in Coaldale residential fire

COALDALE, AB – A residential fire in Coaldale resulting in $100,000 in damage.

Coaldale and District Emergency Services responded to the structure fire at 1206 19 Ave at 6:20 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 13). When crews arrived, they found heavy fire coming from the centre unit of a three-unit single storey residence.

Only one of the units was occupied, and two people managed to escape without any injuries.

Twenty-one firefighters, including the assistance of five from Picture Butte, brought the blaze under control within 30 minutes, containing most of the damage to the centre unit.

Investigation has since determined that the fire was accidental in nature, due to the storage of combustible materials on top of an oven.

Proudly born in 1994, I grew up most of my life in Sylvan Lake, AB and I've lived in the Lethbridge since 2012. I'm a below average golfer on a good day, I take as many hiking trips to Waterton as possible in the summer and I love my two cats, Outlaw and Jynx, and my dog, Maverick, more than most people I know. I look forward to providing accurate, timely news coverage in southern Alberta for plenty of years to come!
