Online campaign raising funds for Blood Tribe man’s funeral

CALGARY, AB – A GoFundMe campaign is collecting donations to cover the funeral costs for a Blood Tribe man who was killed during a hit-and-run in Calgary last week.

According to CBC News, Blade Crow, 21, was waiting to cross the street Thursday night (Feb. 18) near Calgary’s Chinook Centre mall with his girlfriend, Aaliyah, and the couple’s baby in a stroller.

That’s when police say the driver of an SUV drove up on the sidewalk and hit the family from behind. Blade died at the scene, while Aaliyah and the child are currently in hospital in critical condition.

The driver tried to run away, but was arrested shortly after. Police believe speed and drugs were factors in the crash.

At the time of publishing this article, the GoFundMe campaign has already raised nearly $17,000 toward Blade’s funeral costs.

Blade’s family says he recently moved from Vancouver to Calgary to make a better life for himself, he loved Aaliyah, their baby and his family very much and he will be missed by many.
