New Blood Tribe Police Chief to be sworn in next week

STANDOFF, AB – A new Chief of Police has been appointed for the Blood Tribe.

The Commission announced Friday that Miiskiimisokasimi, Brice Iron Shirt, will be officially sworn-in Tuesday in Standoff.

Due to COVID-19 protocols, the event will be closed to the public.

Iron Shirt brings 19 years of policing experience to his new role as Chief which includes RCMP DEPOT academy training as well as Lethbridge-Medicine Hat-Taber Police Academy training.

He’s a Blood Tribe member and has worked previously with Saskatchewan and Manitoba First Nations police services.

Iron Shirt’s swearing-in will mark two decades since a Blood Tribe member has been appointed Chief of the Blood Tribe Police Service.
