UCP government launches consultations on farm safety

The UCP government looking for public input as it aims to repeal the NDP’s Bill 6 and introduce the Farm Freedom and Safety Act.

Agriculture Minister, Devin Dreeshen says Alberta farmers need common-sense rules that promote farm safety, not red tape.

Dreeshen will be going on a consultation tour this summer meeting with farmers, ranchers and organizations across the province.

An online survey is also available to members of the public who want to share their views. That survey is open until August 31st at this link: Farm Safety Survey

Getting rid of Bill 6 however isn’t sitting too well with a labour organization. Gil McGown with the Alberta Federation of Labour says Alberta’s farms and ranches are already the most dangerous workplaces in the province. “Any backsliding on health and safety puts workers’ lives at even greater risk.”
