Farm reporting significant damage as tornado touches down east of Carmangay

Severe weather across southern Alberta Thursday evening producing at least one tornado.

A Tornado Warning was issued around 5:20pm for the Carmangay area as Environment Canada reported the storm, which hit Calgary with large hail earlier in the day, was moving east.

Meteorologist Dan Kulak tells MyLethbridgeNow.com a farm about 12 miles east of Carmangay is reporting significant damage and pictures submitted to the weather office do show a tornado in the area.

He says Environment Canada is hoping to have more information soon about what the damage rating might have been.

Kulak also says there may have been more than one tornado touch down in the area but the weather office is still trying to confirm it.
