RCMP offering tips to reduce vehicle thefts, break ins

Alberta RCMP are offering tips to help reduce the number of vehicle thefts taking place in the province.

Mounties say last year, August was the busiest month for theft of, and theft from, vehicles.

It was also the busiest month for all Criminal Code related offences.

However, there are some simple changes to your daily routine that can significantly reduce the risk of property crime involving vehicles.

You’re asked to always remove the keys and lock your vehicle, keep windows up, remove valuables, lock your garage or park in a well-lit area.

Last summer there were more than 3,200 vehicle thefts and over 3,600 reports of thefts from vehicles.
