Spring Clean Up program kicks off Wednesday in Coalhurst

The Coalhurst Spring Cleanup Program is kicking off this week.

According to the Town of Coalhurst, the program is an opportunity for community members to get rid of household items, including bagged yard waste, and pruned branches. It runs from Wednesday, May 15th to Wednesday, May 22nd, and throughout the week those taking part can place their items along the fence in the back alley of their property. If there is not a back alley then items can be put in the regular garbage pick-up spot.

Items that can not be put out as part of the program include renovation or construction materials, including roof shingles and drywall, or yard waste such as dirt, rocks, concrete, bricks, and sod. Chemical-based waste including paint and antifreeze also can’t be disposed of through the program and neither can items containing freon gas.

The municipality is reminding those planning on taking part, that items can be put out no later than 8 a.m. on the 22nd. However, the town is advising people that if items can fit inside the regular garbage cart to put them in there instead to help alleviate the cost of trucking and loader clean-up costs that are part of the spring program.
