Foodie Fest offers a week-long frenzy of downtown Lethbridge delicacies

Next week, the Downtown Lethbridge BRZ presents its kick-off summer event Foodie Fest – a week-long festival featuring the downtown food scene. Join fellow Lethbridge foodies from May 28 to June 2 for all the food-focused fun downtown has to offer.

Emily Chong, the BRZ’s marketing and communications manager, says the local organization is excited about this year’s events. “This year, we’re doing one week packed full of fun foodie events. There’s so much happening.”

2024 marks the third year the event has been held in Lethbridge’s downtown core. The events average between 2,000 to 3,000 people per event that come out, notes Chong.

On Tuesday, Foodie Fest begins with Food Trucks and Free Samples at Galt Gardens and downtown from 12-8 p.m. Enjoy food trucks located around the park and samples at participating businesses throughout downtown.

“Usually, it’s on a Tuesday because we wanted to engage in a day of the week that is a little bit slower downtown,” adds Chong.

On Wednesday, don’t miss the Pancake Breakfast in Festival Square from 7-9 a.m.

On Thursday afternoon it’s a Latin America Street Party on 6 Street South from 4-9 p.m.

“We’re closing the whole road down and all the businesses on this street are going to offer different types of foods. Obviously, within the Latin America theme. We’re bringing in an artificial beach and we’ll also have entertainment in the theme,” says Chong. “It should be really fun.”

From Friday to Sunday, it’s Foodie Weekend featuring an After Hours Market on Friday in Festival Square and a History and Beer Tour and Paint Night on Saturday.

“We’ve done a bunch of night markets in the past, but we love them. They’re just so much fun. They bring an element to downtown in the evening. Our night markets are always curated with local vendors from Lethbridge and they always support the commerce already going on downtown. It brings more people and creates a wonderful vibe,” says Chong.
